8 weeks

I am watching a show called "I didn't know I was pregnant" and it's about this woman who finds out she's pergnant at 8 months.  All I can say is "WHAT?!!??"  She seriously refuses to believe she is pregnant when she is in LABOR.  I know there was a girl at LMU who this happened to.... She said she didn't feel sick at all....there was no movement, nothing.....she was very heavy and lost a lot of weight throughout the pregnancy.

well, i  seriously am in awe.  I can't believe that is possible!  I have been in bed before 8pm most nights and up in the middle of the night nauseuous and need to get something to eat (which is still the weirdest concept to eat when i feel like puking).  Good news is no vomitting this week.  Still dry heaving, but better than barfing all over.   Mainly just tired all the time....

The baby is about the size of a kidney bean...The baby's inner ears are forming.  His/her knees and ankles are starting to form and the finger and toes are starting as well (Although they are presently webbed).  I am pretty sure he or she is peeing in me now.  Within the next few days, the baby can turn away if something touches its face.  It apparently moves around a lot.  Swim little kidney bean haha!  Its getting testes or ovaries these days too except boys and girls will look the same for several more weeks.

Doctor's appt next Thursday.

Ok byebye!

doc appt.

We went into the doctor's office today and got a second ultra sound....

When we got there, the doc drew up a tiny pic of a bean size blob, and reminded up that our last picture showed only the sac which looked like that.  He then drew a bigger blob with a jelly bean inside it and said we should see that with a beating heart today.  My question was, "What if we don't see it!"  He said we'd go over that later if we needed to...

So in the thing went and he says "Well, there's the sac" and inside it was the little jelly bean and it's heart was flickering.....The doctor said that everything looks great!  I was so happy (and Julian was there and excited as well....he said the baby has my face.  Do i look like a blob?)

After that, I had to get a shot since I've been bleeding and I have A-negative blood type.  Apparently with negative blood types, you have to get the shot to protect yourself in case the baby's blood type is different and they don't mesh well......I really don't understand it but he said that I needed it, so I got stabbed in the butt.

All in all, it was an awesome day!!!

7 weeks

Well.....the mark from 6 to 7 weeks has been an interesting one.... i'll start with the hormonal changes.

" I know it's not you talking; it's your hormones.  But I just want to say 'F*ck you, HORMONES.  Not Allison. Hormones!  You're a crazy bitch....hormones.' "

Well, someone at work spilled the beans about me being pregnant...and for some reason, this set me off.  I was ridiculous....but that passed.  Julian was away most of the week (lucky for him).  I got into it with a parent from school today and was sharper than normal....

On Sunday, I went to babysit my cousin and I started bleeding.  After being in hysterics and getting ahold of doctors, they told me to stay in bed and that if I was going to miscarry, there was nothing that I could do.  But it stopped.  So they said that as long as it didn't start up again, I could wait until my doc appt....which is actually on Thursday NOT wed as i put before.....so on Thursday we will hopefully see that everything is fine (I assume it is)

Today I threw up in the morning for the first time....so morning sickness-Check.  Hopefully it doesn't continue.  Wasn't that bad though because there was no way to see it coming.

All these details are prob. too much but oh well!  You're our close friends so you get to hear it.

As for the baby update:
Lots of brain growth has been going on this week.  He/she started to form facial features a little... it's 3rd (and only working) set of kidnesy was developped. (And in a week, it will start to pee in me....hahaha)  The baby was the size of a coffee bean  in the middle of this week but is most likely bigger now :)

Baby bump update....I have only gained about 3 pounds so far, but it's righ tin my uterus.  Julian proudly proclaimed "You look preggers!" last night when i saw him....My pants are starting to get tight....so I got a "belly band" which is supposed to help.  It makes it so u can leave your pants ubuttoned but you wear it over your pants to hold them up.  It just looks like there is a tank top under my clothes, though, so it's not too obvious.

I'll post after my doctor appt on Thursday!

6 weeks

Well, tomorrow marks the beginning of my 6th week....which means that the baby is exactly 1 month old (for all those who are confused about how that works because, like me, you had no idea until someone got preg.....it starts from the day of your last period (6 weeks for me) and u ovulate 2 weeks after that which would be the 4 weeks that the baby has been there....)  In that short time, the baby has lung buds, leg buds, arm buds, and a liver.  He/She's gall bladder, stomach, intestines, pancreas and lungs continue to form.  Apparently it's 3-5mm in size now and the heart is beating (verified next week at my next ultrasound).

All of my blood tests came back favorably.  Initially they thought that I had a UTI (7 out of 10 women get them in pregnancy), which would explain the 22 times I pee a day....but apparently, that's just part of the process.

I've been really lucky so far because I haven't been puking.  I've gotten nauseous a few times...and needed crackers at about 3:00am, but haven't been bombarded with it.  My main thing has been being exhausted and needing to sleep a lot throughout the day, but i love to sleep!  So that's cool.

Monday I have a pregnancy class.  Wednesday is our ultrasound.

So far so good! :)

Today I had the blood sucked out of me after an hour and a half of paperwork and Julian acting like a 6 year old in the appointment.  We will be getting the results tomorrow hopefully.  One cool thing was finding out that the doctor that we switched to having is actually the Chief dude of kaiser's mommyward.  That's cool and comforting to know.  Results will be in soon :)  Thanks for all the fun comments/emails/mail.

Auntie Erica hooked us up with a knitting book to make baby stuff.  I'll have to ask Nic to help me figure it out.  I'm going to try to make a hat and some booties.

freak-out

So today was fun....i kept spotting and called Kaiser.  They told me that because I have hypertension that I needed to come in since it's already risky....So they fit me in today.

I am going to spare the details for my male friends....but the doctor was a man....and i was nervous to have him all up in my biz-nesss...but he checked things out and explained that the blood that I was seeing was old and everything is okay.

They did an ultrasound and it's too early to see the heart but we could see where the baby is in my uterus.  It was really cool...and we got a picture! And the guy was so nice, he is going to fit me in 2 weeks early to show me the heart himself before my 9 week ultra sound.  I ended up switching him to be my permanent baby doc.

Julian wanted to ask the doctor if there was a way to see who the dad was during that appt (just bc he htought it would be hilarious)  He didn't do that....but he settled for looking at the ultrasound picture and says "Oh no...what are we going to do now?!" to make the receptionist lady smile.

i ended up talking to my boss today and she was SO supportive. She doesn't even care that I'd be out the first few months of school....and i told her that I probably wouldn't work full time anymore and she seemed really open to talking to the district and trying to get me a job share.
So, that's exciting.

Right now we're watching Knocked up.  She just said "here it goes...I'm pregnant..."  His response "F*CK off".  ...... oh so funny.

seeing spots

Today I was scared because I had a little bit of spotting...nothing dramatic, but I was worried of course.  So i called Kaiser and they said not to worry (but more importantly called my stepdad who delivers babies....and he said to just rest tonight and take it easy but not to worry)

I think I will feel better after I go to the doctor on Thursday and get the blood test.  I am sure that things will be less scary after the results say everything is fine. :)

jobs and dogs

well, Julian and I know that we have much to figure out....but plenty of time to do it....two issues we are working on now are if and how much I'll be working (and where)....and what we are going to do with Walt come September.  Job possibilities: job share, tutoring, push in reading/intervention teacher, etc. once a week.....And for the dog?  Obedience school will be up first....we are trying to decide if we want to do this ASAP or wait until the 2nd trimester when my energy is supposed to be a little better ad I don't want to rest as much.  Renting a house with a yard is a second option with Walt in mind...

other than that....things seem to be going well. :)

To be continued.

Four for Four

Today I took a 4th pregnancy test....why? I don't know...just was hoping it wouldn't go away I suppose.  Tomorrow I have to take a 5th (for Kaiser purposes) and I am starting to feel confident that it will test positive then :)....  Apparently, our baby's heart started to form and soon will start to beat.  I think that's super exciting.  I think that I am about 4 weeks pregnant but not too sure.

Julian and I went to the store and made sure to get tons of healthy food for the next week.  That's about as far as we've gotten....

First doctor appt is coming up next week.
